Chestnut, East Anglia’s fastest-growing hospitality group, is celebrating the opening of seven new lodges at The Weeping Willow in Barrow, Suffolk, furthering the brand’s commitment to creating experience led destination pubs with rooms.
The new accommodation is set back behind The Weeping Willow. Surrounded by garden and meadow, these dog-friendly timber lodges sleep up to five and are sympathetic to the landscape, with large bi-folding doors that blur the lines between inside and out. Two of the lodges come with wood-fired hot tubs and others include super king beds and bunk beds, making them ideal for families or couples wanting to experience Chestnut hospitality in a rural Suffolk setting.
“The Weeping Willow lodges have been one of our most exciting projects in our journey so far and support the increased demand we have seen from short breaks in East Anglia’ said Philip Turner, Founder and Chief Executive of Chestnut. “The lodges offer a new style of accommodation and now guests from further afield can enjoy the food and overnight experience at one of our most popular destination pubs.’
“The lodges also represent Chestnut’s commitment to being environmentally aware. The methods chosen in the construction of our lodges support biodiversity and ensured there was minimum disruption to the land and surrounding habitats. They offer a low-carbon stay with no single use products, energy saving systems and recycled glass carafes. We are proud of what we have achieved and have had great feedback from staying guests so far.” Turner adds.
Nominated in the Best Pub category in The East of England Tourism Awards and voted Suffolk’s Best Destination Pub by Muddy Stilettos, The Weeping Willow can be found just 15 minutes from Newmarket Racecourse. Other nearby attractions include: High Lodge at Thetford Forest, Wildtracks Activity Park, St Edmundsbury Cathedral and the National Horseracing Museum.
