Award-winning small cruise line, The Northern Light Cruising Company, has published its 2023 cruise calendar and is already busy taking bookings from travellers eager to experience the best of Scotland’s Highland and Island scenery.

As well as many old favourites that fill up repeatedly year after year such as their St Kilda itineraries, the company under the new ownership of Hebridean Adventures since January 2022, has launched several brand new adventurous itineraries filled with amazing wildlife-watching opportunities and taking in some of Scotland’s most remote and dramatic Island and mainland scenery.

The standout cruise for 2023 has to be the brand new 11-night one-way trip titled the “Northern Isles – Shetland to West Highlands Explorer” that begins in Shetland in July (guests make their own way there by plane) and ends in Oban, visiting Fair Isle, Orkney and the Hebrides on its way south.

Passing through waters rich in cetaceans and seabirds, highlights could include orca and various other whale and dolphin species such as humpbacks, fin and minke whales, plus common, bottlenose, Risso’s and white-beaked dolphins, seals, otters, white-tailed and golden eagles, puffins, gannets, basking sharks and much more. There will also be some land tours by minibus to break up the sailing now and then.

Guest guide for this trip will be renowned former RSPB wildlife photographer Chris Gomersall* (@chrisgomersallwildlife on Instagram), who will be helping spot and point out the wildlife seen along the way as well as offering photographic advice and tips for those keen to improve their skills.

Price is £3520 per person for a once-in-a-lifetime Scottish cruise experience never to be forgotten. Monday 10th to Friday 21st July 2023.
