A new Christmas Lights trail featuring enchanting illuminations and festive music, will light up the glamorous and historic Leeds Castle for six weeks from Friday, November 25.

Christmas Lights at Leeds Castle offers you the chance to wander between striking light installations designed by a range of international artists, all carefully choreographed to a festive soundtrack and designed to complement Leeds Castle’s enchanting 900 years of history.

Helen Bonser-Wilton, Chief Executive at Leeds Castle, said: “At Leeds Castle, we are always looking at new ways to tell the fascinating Leeds Castle story and to entertain our guests with new immersive experiences. This year, we are teaming up with light trail specialists Raymond Gubbay, Sony Music and Culture Creative, to delight guests with this magical after-dark light trail which will add sparkle to Leeds Castle’s wintry grounds.”

Five fun facts about Christmas Lights at Leeds Castle:

  • A staggering three miles of Fairy Lights are being used
  • There will be a total of 4,950 candles used in the fire garden during the six-week run
  • The Instagram-friendly Christmas Cathedral is 27 metres long
  • Five kilometres of Neon String is used to wrap trees

French artistic studio TILT will display five pieces of its work as part of the trail. One such is Bloom, which resembles a large flowering plant with delicate, luminescent pistils which change colour; Bouquet d’abat-jours (Lampshades Bouquet) and Nightlights.

TILT was created in 2001. Its work is exhibited worldwide and explores light and its interplay with art, architecture and space, inspired by nature or everyday objects.

Matthew Findlay, Head of UK Trails for Sony Music/Raymond Gubbay Ltd, said: “We are hugely excited by the plans for this new trail, with a fantastic array of artists creating beautiful, new installations which will provide a real ‘wow’ factor for 2022.”
