Chimu Adventures has launched a new itinerary to Peru, designed to offer even more sustainable, low environmental impact, and locally-led experiences to travellers. Signature Peru: Hike, Bike, and Foodie Delights is a 12-day active adventure, beginning in Lima and ending in Cusco, designed to show guests a new side of Peru.

Throughout the trip, guests will take in immersive local experiences, including a half-day cycling trip along the banks of the Urubamba River in Peru’s Sacred Valley, a full day visit to a local Indigenous mountain community, with traditional lunch, where guests will learn about traditional Andean weaving and farming, and a guided hike to Pumamarca Ruins, a lesser visited Incan fortress. Travellers will enjoy a cooking class, traditional pachamanca lunch, where food is smoked underground, a coffee roasting demonstration, and a distillery visit, all designed to support local businesses. A walking food tour through Lima, the country’s gastronomic hub and capital, where guests will visit the bustling central market and a private tour of Machu Picchu are also included.

Sustainable travel is not a trend – it’s the only way to move forward. A recent survey by World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC), Trip.com Group and Deloitte found that 69% of travellers are actively seeking sustainable travel opportunities, with that percentage expected to increase over time. This is why Chimu Adventures is proud to launch a trip to one of South America’s most popular destinations that focuses not just on sustainability but also on immersive, locally-led cultural experiences, foodie travel, and includes stays at more environmentally-friendly properties, including the eco-lodge Las Qolqas, an environmentally-friendly eco-lodge in the Sacred Valley.

Chimu’s Product Manager Emma McCormick explains “With our company mission and vision, we are looking for more immersive options where clients can make a positive impact, so hopefully this tour is the first of many that we will curate in the future. It is designed for those who have been to Peru before, as well as for the first-time visitor who has more time to explore a few more days or wants to do something a little bit different”.

Signature Peru: Hike, Bike, and Foodie Delights offers daily departures and each of Chimu’s Signature South America itineraries is designed so guests can choose their own departure date, choose their accommodation style and add extensions to customise the trip.
